A FOOTBALL pitch in Italy has been deemed totally unplayable following a heavy flood on Sunday.
Cerignola’s Domenico Monterisi ground saw its 4G artificial turf being undercut by water after heavy rain.
The pitch absorbed such a large quantity of water it basically turned into a bizarre wave-pool.
The lawn became wavy and bouncy with the area around it completely flooded.
Therefore, Cerignola’s scheduled Serie D encounter against Brindisi has been postponed until next week.
Some players went out to check the state of the pitch and decided to have some fun with it.
One of them was filmed bouncing around as if he was on a trampoline while others watched and laughed at the strange situation.
The postponement doesn’t have much effect for Cerignola as they have already sealed promotion to Serie C.
Michele Pazienza’s side is first in Serie D with 12 points separating them from second-placed Francavilla.
The Italian side have enjoyed a dominant campaign in the fourth division with 23 wins and only two losses in 35 matches.
