May joins Isorg from Osram Opto Semiconductors in Munich, where he was chairman of the board and CEO for three years. He brings to Isorg extensive experience of top-level industrial business management in semiconductors, software, automotive and mobile communications.
May has more than 30 years of experience in organizations driving transformational change and product innovation in optoelectronics and digital products and services, beyond Osram Opto to include BMW, Nokia and Infineon .
His appointment comes at a time when Isorg is about to begin its commercial ramp-up. May’s aim is to build a company with a scalable footprint. He will ensure that Isorg’s industrial scale-up is ready to meet the required mass production for consumer markets and drive business success.
“We are delighted to welcome Dieter to Isorg, as we chart the next chapter in our journey to becoming market leader in large area photodetectors and image sensors,” said Jean-Pierre Bizet, board member. “His vision and executive management track record, as well as his go-to-market strategy, alliances and M&A experience will serve Isorg well, as the company extends its offering globally in the consumer electronics, security and id markets.”
“We sincerely thank Jean-Yves for his fortitude in bringing Isorg’s OPD technology to maturity. Isorg will continue to benefit from his technological talents and insights,” added Bizet.
“I am very enthusiastic about Dieter joining us. Our products are now ready for commercialization. Dieter has repeatedly shown his ability to transform innovation into real commercial success. We expect great business growth in the years to come,” said Gomez.
Isorg’s large-area image sensors and biometrics solutions are based on organic photodiodes, a transformational technology that can convert a substrate, such as plastic, glass or CMOS , into an optical sensing surface. It operates a state-of-the-art industrial plant in Limoges, France, for mass producing OPD sensors, and an R&D center in Grenoble, France.
