After nearly being delayed, the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics are finally about to begin. If you can’t wait to watch some epic figure skating, triple corks, or intense ice hockey, you’ll be able to catch all the excitement on NBC Universal channels.
This year, the 2022 Winter Olympics will air on several NBC Universal properties, including NBC, USA, CNBC, the Peacock streaming app, and NBCOlympics.com, to round out the nearly 109 different events. In addition, NBC will host hours and hours of coverage, meaning you’ll likely be able to catch several of the most popular events.
Considering all the events are in Beijing and Zhangjiakou, fans will be happy to learn that you can stream the Olympics live and on-demand this year thanks to the Peacock app. Obviously, the easiest way to watch the games is with cable TV, but if that’s not an option, here are the other ways to stream the Olympics.
The 2022 Winter Olympics officially begin at the opening ceremonies on February 4th, 2022, at 6:30 am ET. Primetime coverage begins on NBC and Peacock on February 3rd, and the event lasts until February 20th, when the closing ceremonies will take place.
All combined, there will be roughly 4500 total hours of sports content broadcast between NBC, NBCSN, Peacock, and across the other networks of NBC Universal. Basically, you have many different events you can tune into and enjoy. Again, it’s easiest with a cable subscription, but if you cut the cord and want to stream it, you can.
You can access this content through NBCOlympics.com, the NBC Sports app, or mobile apps for USA and others. However, keep in mind that most services require a cable TV login, which is why those that cut the cord will want to look for other options. Fans can stream most Olympic events, including the opening ceremony, live on Peacock, with a premium subscription.
If you want to watch or stream the Olympics online, there are several live TV streaming services to choose from. Keep in mind that these streaming services have varying channel lineups, but all deliver some access to NBC, NBC Sports, USA, and more.
If you already subscribe to one of these internet tv streaming services, you’re all set. Each one offers several, if not all, of the channels NBC that will be airing the 2022 Winter Olympics. And all of these services are available on phones, tablets, laptops, and smart TV platforms for easy streaming.
Keep in mind that while YouTube TV does have NBC, it lost several NBC Universal channels for streaming sports late last year, as NBC integrated it all into the Peacock streaming service.
Your best option for streaming the 2022 Olympics is with Peacock. That’s because a regular Peacock plan (4.99 per month) will give you access to live stream all the fun. Additionally, a Peacock Premium subscription will deliver over 2,800 hours of NBC’s coverage, including on-demand access to watch any event after it ends, which is a big perk. Peacock is $4.99 a month with ads or $9.99 per month ad-free.
For what it’s worth, a Peacock subscription will also let you watch the Super Bowl.
We keep getting asked about how to stream the Olympics for free, and the short answer is you can’t. Well, you can use an antenna to maybe access the NBC channel from your home for free, but that’s not ideal. So if you want to be able to “stream” the Olympics on any device you own, you’ll want to use one of the streaming services mentioned above.
Aside from watching certain parts of the game on NBCOlympics.com, your best bet is to sign up for a free trial to an online TV streaming service. YouTube TV, Hulu + Live TV, and fuboTV all offer a 7-day free trial. This won’t get you through the entire event, but you’ll be able to enjoy most of it. Sling TV has both a 3-day or 7-day trial depending on which package you choose, along with a dedicated Olympics channel.
Additionally, if you have Spectrum as your internet provider or Cox cable, they’re both offering a subscription to Peacock for free, so check that out. And if you don’t have either of those, Peacock provides a 7-day trial too.
Once you’re all set, you can sit back and enjoy the games.
